John Bauer stopped work with Bland tomtar och troll 1911 after a conflict with the editor about copyright. It ended with a catastrophe for the publication, so John Bauer did get his copyrights and started illustrating Bland tomtar och troll again 1912. He continued to 1915. The illustrations between 1912 and 1915 are of superior quality thanks to printing technique and the fact that John Bauer matured as artist. The years he illustrated Bland tomtar och troll was that his main work.
